Our proposals for Battersea Park Road

Watkin Jones Group and the Battersea Park Road project team believe that the redevelopment of the vacant land into an extension of the vibrant mixed-use Nine Elms community, creating new jobs, new homes and new public spaces represents the next positive step in the regeneration of the area.

Overall, the submitted plans will see:

  • New affordable housing for over 150 residents.
  • The creation of over 300 new jobs on site.
  • Over 70 new trees planted, up from just 6 on site at the moment.
  • 475sqm of new commercial, business and service space.
  • 4,400sqm of new public realm including a new play space for children aged 0-17.

Following feedback from the Council’s statutory consultation, Watkin Jones Group have submitted significant amendments to the scheme, responding to queries and concerns about elements of the submitted plans. These revisions include:

  • A reduction in height and re-orientation of the building closest to Viridian Apartments, minimising amenity impacts.
  • The retention of the mature trees and greenery along Battersea Park Road and on the corner of Sleaford Street, reducing the footprint of the proposed buildings.
  • Adjustment to the residential mix of the affordable housing building including a higher percentage of Social Rent housing compared to intermediate affordable housing.
  • A new local community space.
  • Improvements to the proposed landscaping and public play space, as well as internal amenities for students, resulting in biodiversity and urban greening improvements.
  • Improvements to energy efficiency and sustainability.
